Braemar Tracks and Paths

The Braemar Tracks and Paths Group is currently composed of participants from Braemar Community Limited (BCL) and the Braemar Tourism Group (BTG), together with representatives from the local Estates.

The Group is working on an audit of the popular routes in and around the village.  Using the Core Paths list as defined by the Cairngorm National Park Authority (CNPA) as a starting point; the team is looking to assess the condition of the paths, identify maintenance requirements, understand opportunities for improvements to accessibility and ensure signage and other infrastructure such as bins, benches and nature trail markers are in place.

The first steps in auditing the path network are already underway and the team is keen to hear from anyone with an interest in helping with this process.  Once all the information is collated the work can be prioritised, funding can be applied for and contracts placed for signage, path repairs, fencing, etc.

In parallel with the medium to long-term planning work, the team is keen to organise seasonal Maintenance Days to clean out drainage, cut back foliage and generally tidy up the routes.  The first of these Maintenance Days is planned for November before the winter weather sets in, and another date will be scheduled in Spring to clear away any build-up of materials.
